Think of it as a kind of very difficult horror themed take on the same type of game as Deep Rock Galactic.Įverything that is being added to the final game can be broken down into whole new gameplay options and quality of experience enhancements. Between searching for scarce gear and using computer terminals to find items you need to open the next door, the levels can be long, and they are also procedurally generated so it’s something new each time. This means you’re using stealth and your melee weapons to kill sleeping monsters so you can save your resources, which you then just burn through when there is an inevitable alarm that goes off after opening a marked door. There’s purposefully not enough ammo or health, and you don’t get more from combat. You need to work together and move slowly and carefully to survive. It really does feel like the same team that made Payday 2 branched off and decided to really try for a game that’s difficult and dark. I will say, as does a notice from the developers on Steam, this game is very hard. But I found that the game plays plenty well without a large amount of story explanation. So far, that has resulted in a pretty active YouTube community of code crackers. All while being led along and antagonized by The Warden, an entity whose exact nature we aren’t yet privy to.ġ0 Chambers told me that they are purposefully keeping narrative revelations to a minimum, choosing instead to slowly dole out bits and pieces to try and let players work together to parse it together. But the squad never truly escapes and instead wakes up some time later being sent down the mineshaft to start again. For reasons that have not yet been revealed, the four prisoners you play as are being held captive and awoken over and over again to fight their way through different sectors of the complex labyrinth so they can, well, GTFO. Now the cavernous underground facility known as The Complex is abandoned except for sleeping monsters that attack in a vicious rage whenever they detect movement or sound. At some point things went pear-shaped and the operation was evacuated during some kind of violent panic. What has been revealed in pieces here and there, is that you are a group of prisoners being held captive by a mysterious shadow organization that had been running a complex mining and research operation near a mysterious alien artifact of some kind that was discovered deep underground. The narrative has been kept purposefully mysterious. But to do so you have to unlock clothing items by completing expeditions.A brief bit of explanation for those of you that have not been following the lead up to the game’s launch: GTFO is a first-person co-op horror stealth shooter (try saying that ten times fast) that has been on Steam in early access since December of 2019. Player customization: The developers have had prisoner customization in mind for a while now and now offer players ways to customize prisoners in Rundown 6.0 Destination. However, this is an optional feature so you can still play the the old-fashioned way if you dare. This doesn’t make it easier, but the whole expedition won’t end with one fatal mistake. Checkpoints: GTFO is a little more forgiving for any new players with checkpoints. They sneak when you sneak, they gather resources, but most importantly they will help out when things get messy. Prisoner bots are one of the most requested new features. Bots: The AI will never perform the same as a human player, however it’s better than entering the Complex with fewer than three prisoners. But here are some of the new features that are to the game: Every single rundown will challenge players with its supremely difficult expeditions. Some monsters might shock you and some could completely terrify you.Īll this whilst exploring some seriously creepy environments that are certainly set up to make bad things happen to you. Trying to sneak past unaware enemies, with out giving yourself away can create unbearable tension. GTFO has got lots of exciting moments that will heighten certain emotions. For anyone that’s new to GTFO, Rundown 6.0 Destination is a great place to start your journey as a convict. But now the developers are offering a discount on Steam.Ī developer update was posted on Steam yesterday detailing some news about the game. It’s a thrilling game that has gone through two years of development in early access. The mod brings full controller support and a fantastic level of 3D to this horror shooter. Back in April a VR mod was announced on these pages for Co-op Horror/Shooter GTFO. GTFO recently left Early Access with the release of Rundown 6.0 Destination. GTFO VR Mod, there’s no Better Time to play!
